BOULDER, Colo. (Mar. 13, 2026) — The Certified Commercial Property Inspectors Association® (CCPIA®) has published a comprehensive training curriculum covering the major building systems that form the foundation of commercial property inspections.

The curriculum focuses on the systems inspectors encounter when assessing commercial buildings and provides structured training to help inspectors understand how these systems operate, how they are commonly installed in commercial properties, and how to document observed conditions during an inspection. Core building system courses include:

These individual courses are self-paced and included with CCPIA® membership. While they can be completed in any order, the courses are designed to help inspectors progress toward the CCPIA® Certified Commercial Property Inspector designation.

Each course provides a structured understanding of the system being inspected, including how common systems operate, variations found in commercial versus residential buildings, commonly reported deficiencies, inspection scope considerations, reporting guidance, and on-site safety procedures. Course materials include reading modules, instructional videos, a coursebook PDF, inspection checklists, and a certificate issued upon completion.
