About this video:
Learn how to inspect a swinging fire door. Fire doors are critical for fire protection and life safety in commercial buildings. They are designed to compartmentalize smoke and flames to slow the spread of fire. When operating correctly, they allow occupants to evacuate safely and provide emergency personnel with the ability to access and control the fire.
In this video, we outline the key items to check during a fire door inspection according to the ComSOP International Standards of Practice for Inspecting Commercial Fire Doors. The inspection process includes three steps: 1) visual inspection, 2) operational check, and 3) simulation (drop) test. We focus on inspecting Type 6: swinging fire doors with builder’s hardware. For further training on inspecting other types of swinging, sliding, and rolling fire doors, complete the Fire Door Inspection Course.
