Hands-On Field Training: Inspecting a 12-Story Office Building (Sold Out)

$595Want to inspect a 12-story office building with us? From the building envelope to the systems and components that keep operations running and safe, you’ll complete the full inspection and report.
This two-day field training provides hands-on experience inspecting a commercial building and writing a report. Most of the training is spent performing a walkthrough, during which you’ll learn how systems operate and assess the current property conditions.
Classroom time is held briefly at the beginning for drafting a price and proposal for this mock inspection, and again at the end to compile your findings into a final report.

This class offers some advanced training opportunities, but all experience levels will gain valuable understanding of how buildings are constructed, designed, and operated.
Join us in Phoenix to:
- Draft a price or proposal for the mock inspection that reflects the real cost of showing up, completing the inspection, writing the report (and getting paid well for it)
- Inspect various areas, including service bays, warehouse areas, a mezzanine with a deli, and common areas
- Gain insights into the building’s construction, systems, and common issues provided by the building engineer and operations managers
- Collaborate with property managers and operations personnel to supplement your walk-through and understanding of the building
- Inspect building systems while learning how they operate and assessing their condition, including the:
- Roof, along with the cooling tower and chiller installed on it
- Exterior walls, façade, and fenestration
- Parking garage, site drainage, and topography
- Electrical, mechanical, and plumbing rooms
- Fire riser room and life safety features throughout the property
- Building structure
By following the ComSOP and reviewing insights from pre-inspection conversations with key property decision-makers and operations staff, we’ll break down advanced systems and the intimidation factor of inspecting large or complex buildings.

Preview the Field Training Property
This 12-story, Class A office building in downtown Phoenix was built in 1985 and remodeled in 2016. It totals 247,911 square feet, features a mix of commercial spaces, and is supported by true commercial building systems, components, and design. While some systems are more advanced, every inspector will leave this training with valuable experience and greater confidence.

- Parking: Class is in downtown Phoenix. Street and lot parking are available. The garage behind the building is the closest option ($40/day).
- Nearby Airports: Phoenix Sky Harbor International (KPHX) is about a 10-minutes from the training location. Tucson International (TUS) is about 2 hours away.
