How many continuing education hours do Illinois inspectors need?
The continuing education policy for Illinois licensed home inspectors is as follow and described in Section 1410.550 of the Home Inspector License Act:
- A licensed home inspector who applies for renewal of their home inspector license shall successfully complete a total of 12 hours of approved continuing education (CE) during each 2 year renewal cycle. Continuing education must consist of a minimum of 8 hours of mandatory courses. The remaining 4 hours can be elective.
- “Commercial inspection procedures” fall under the elective category.
