About this video:

Maintaining consistent temperatures in different areas of office buildings can be challenging. The most common methods for controlling or regulating temperature are variable air volume (VAV) boxes and zone controllers. A VAV box is a type of zoning control device that regulates airflow and adjusts the air temperature within a specific zone. It can also control the air-handling unit that provides air through the ductwork.

A zone controller is a simple mechanical device that opens and closes a damper and controls the amount of air passing through ductwork. It is connected to a specific thermostat that can control the temperature in a specific zone by adjusting the airflow. It does not activate the HVAC system, like a VAV box. A VAV box can activate an HVAC system, increase or decrease the temperature being distributed, and control airflow.
