In this two-day, in-person class, you will learn how to create a cost-to-cure report and put it into practice by visiting a commercial building and going through the process of identifying and documenting information using a sample spreadsheet template that can be customized for future reports. - Day 1 of the class focuses on the benefits and basics of cost-to-cure reporting, explaining its importance in planning for the management of real estate assets and highlighting the differences between residential and commercial inspections. Participants will explore the limitations, liabilities, risks, and marketing practices of cost-to-cure reports, along with learning terminology and ways to communicate effectively in the commercial real estate arena. The class will also delve into the structure of commercial cost-to-cure reports, examining various types, sources, software, and information gathering methods, as well as how to classify building conditions (repair or immediate cost versus a maintenance or long-term cost).
- Day 2 emphasizes field training where students will visit a commercial building to identify and document information for a cost-to-cure report, understanding the data collection process and its application. The class will conclude by creating of a cost-to-cure report, cross-referencing various sources for accuracy, and equipping participants with the confidence to start and complete their own reports using customizable templates.
